About the organisation

The Thompson Park Management Committee are a group of volunteers who manage and run the Thompson Park Community Centre. The current management committee was established in August 2021 and are working to provide a warm, welcoming and vibrant community centre for the local community.

How we have helped

The Alliance became involved in July 2021, as the original committee were looking to dissolve the group. We supported the management committee to consider their options. We hosted a public meeting to get more people involved and to replace committee officers who wanted to stand down.

We supported the new committee with governance documents, policies and procedures, management committee training and information. We helped to recruit volunteers, continuing to provide advice and guidance, and are still working with the committee to support future growth and development.

We helped to support the writing of the business plan, which will be key to applying for funding; as well as advice on energy audits and building surveys that will support funding applications.

The new committee are now well prepared and informed to take on their roles to run the centre confidently and effectively. They know the Alliance is here to support and guide them, providing information and advice whenever needed, but that they are empowered to make decisions and actions to make the centre an asset in the community for the community.

The new committee of Thompson Park Community Association are very grateful to the support from Joanne and the Alliance, we have had expert advice, friendly support, lots of very useful signposting, information and connections thanks to this support. We would not be in the strong position we in are going forward were it not for this.
