Google.org Accelerator: Global Generative AI Open Call Announced

Google.org has launched a global open call for its Generative AI Accelerator programme, offering $30 million in funding and a six-month support package. The initiative targets organisations using generative AI to address social impact challenges across three areas:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Learning: Projects enabling individuals to acquire essential knowledge and skills.
  • Scientific Advancement: AI-driven innovations that advance scientific research and its practical application, encouraging collaborations between research institutions and other organisations.
  • Resilient Communities: Initiatives that strengthen societal resilience, enhance online safety, and support crisis preparedness.

Organisations from various sectors, including non-profits, academic institutions, and for-profit social enterprises, are eligible, provided they have a registered office in their country of residence and a clear social impact mission.

Grants will range from $500,000 to $2 million, to be used over 30 months. Funding supports prototype development during the Accelerator and subsequent product scaling. Selected participants will also receive pro bono support from Google employees, technical training, and Google Cloud credits.

Applications are open for projects addressing diverse issues such as healthcare, education, climate action, and misinformation. This initiative aims to advance the responsible application of generative AI for societal benefit.

Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 10 February 2025.
