SUNDERLAND VOLUNTEERING NETWORK EVENT
Wednesday 1 October 2025, 09:30-11:30
Marley Park Community Fire Station, Old Mill Road, Southwick, SR5 5BS
The theme of the meeting will beThe Power of Storytelling in Volunteer Recruitment. Within every organisation lies engaging narratives of triumphs and trials, hopes and transformations. Volunteers are often motivated by a desire to make a difference, and storytelling builds on this by showing the impact of their work. It gives people a reason to feel connected to your mission, not just to inspire volunteers to join, but to foster a long-term commitment to your organisation. Take away some ideas and resources to help you think creatively about your messaging.
Judith Murphy, Heritage and Culture Development Coordinator for the Washington Heritage Partnership will also tell us about The Crocodile Collective, with tips for collecting and presenting personal stories, and the value of podcasting.
Please RSVP to volunteer@sunderlandvsa.co.uk
Volunteers are welcome too.
