Maria joined Sunderland Voluntary Sector Alliance in September 2023 as a Voluntary Sector Development Worker. She joins us after 8 years working at Eating Disorder North East, a charity based in Newcastle supporting those with an eating distress/disorder.
As the Training Officer her role was to create, plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality training courses and resources to Professionals, Parents, and Young People in a range of settings in the Northeast.
Before this role Maria worked as a project manager at Them Wifies an arts and mental health charity. An integral part of that role was to identify gaps in mental health provision and design creative, authentic and engaging solutions. This work took place in a range of settings including Prisons, Psychiatric forensic units and various day and inpatient facilities.
Maria has over 20 years' experience of designing, marketing, and implementation of a range of income-generating projects, services, and products to enhance the lives of vulnerable people with complex needs.
As a Sunderland resident, Maria is passionate about supporting local organisations to deliver high quality services for people with complex needs to enjoy a better quality of life.
