Grindon community Church received a £550 donation from a local security systems company
Hadrian Technology, a local security systems company, generously donated £550 towards a cause that would support the environment as part of their social value offer. The donation was awarded to Grindon Community Church Project, which as well as being a church for the local community is also a busy community centre.
This generous contribution from Hadrian Technology will be used to replace broken heaters in the Sanctuary Hall. The current heaters, in use for over 30 years, are inefficient, non-eco-friendly, and prone to breaking down. This poses challenges for groups using the hall, such as toddlers, the over 50's long term illness exercise class, and participants in the free sound baths, who must either, use the heaters which don't warm the room properly and are very noisy or plug in small electric heaters which are inadequate for the space and are very expensive to run.
Neither of these choices is environmentally friendly, therefore the church was looking for a solution to lessen the environmental impact, enhance efficiency, and cut costs by installing new heaters, which will address the issue.
The donation accounts for 25% of the total cost required to rewire and replace the two faulty heaters. The funds will be sourced by using the donation, as well as church's reserves, and seeking matching funds from Synod or other organisations that require evidence of matched funding.
Replacing the heaters will bring numerous benefits to the organisation and its users. The hall will be comfortably heated, creating a beneficial environment for various activities. The new heaters will operate quietly, enhancing the experience for groups using the space while reducing the building's environmental impact. This improvement will make the space more inviting for gatherings and for volunteers to work in. It will also lower operating costs, enabling the church to offer more activities at minimal or no expense.
The upgraded heating system will expand the hall's functionality, accommodating a broader range of events and functions. This enhancement will benefit small businesses and organisations by providing affordable room hire options with low or no room hire fees. Additionally, the church will be able to host coffee morning groups, effectively doubling the usable space and catering to a wider array of community needs.
