About the Organisation

Kalanikethan Indian arts, music and Sports, a newly established Community Interest Company approached us for assistance with developing policies, project planning, completing safeguarding training, and securing funding. Their aim was to deliver a diverse range of activities over a 12-month period to boost physical activity, mental health, diversity, and community cohesion, all through the rich tapestry of Indian culture. the organisations main challenges were :

- Lack of Funding: The company required £20,000 for their planned activities but had not yet secured any funding.

- Absence of a Project Plan: Without a structured project plan, there was a risk of failing to obtain funding and manage the project effectively.

- Undefined Job Roles: The lack of job descriptions for project staff created uncertainty around responsibilities, increasing the likelihood of overlooked tasks.

- No Safeguarding Training/Policies/Procedures: The absence of safeguarding training, policies, and procedures meant the organisation could not adequately protect beneficiaries or ensure a safe environment.

- Inadequate Impact Measurement: Without a system to capture data and measure impact, assessing the project's success and effectiveness was challenging.


How we helped

Over six months, we implemented a comprehensive support plan:

  1. Funding Success: Completed 4 funding bids totalling £28,820, securing £20,000 to support a variety of activities over the next 12 months.
  2. Project Planning: Developed a robust project plan to guide the effective implementation and management of activities.
  3. Role Descriptions: Created detailed job descriptions and person specifications for project staff, clarifying responsibilities and aiding in the recruitment of suitable candidates.
  4. Safeguarding Training/Policies/Procedures: Provided essential safeguarding training and developed necessary policies and procedures, equipping staff to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure a safe environment.
  5. Implementing Evaluation: Established tailored evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness and impact of the project on beneficiaries.

Outcome

With our support, the Community Interest Company successfully secured the necessary funding, established clear operational frameworks, and implemented their planned activities effectively. This foundation enabled them to deliver an impactful project that met their goals of enhancing physical activity, mental health, diversity, and community cohesion through the celebration of Indian culture.
