Individuals and families that are pre-payment meter customers, can apply for grants of up to £2,000 to clear domestic gas and electricity debts.
The Individual and Families, administered by the British Gas (BG) Energy Trust, provides BG and non-BG customers with debt on a pre-payment meter with a grant to clear outstanding arrears with their energy supplier.
The fund is available to customers that:
· Have energy debt up to £2,000 and use a pre-payment meter in your main residence and the energy account must be in the name of the applicant
· Live in England, Scotland, or Wales
· Have not received a grant from the British Gas Energy Trust within the last 2 years
· Must be seeking a grant to clear an outstanding debt on a current or open gas, electricity or dual fuel energy account in their name and the energy account must relate to their main residence.
· Have electric and/or gas debt
· Must be in or facing Fuel Poverty
· Have received help from a money advice agency
However, customers of Eon, Eon Next, EDF, Scottish Power, Boost, SSE and Octopus should apply to their Energy suppliers own respective funds.
The Fund will close when all funding has been awarded.
