Nic joined Sunderland Voluntary Sector Alliance in October 2024, bringing experience from the public sector and third sector. Nic has an interest in, and a passion for, healthcare inequalities, the wider determinants of health and equality, diversity & inclusion and has worked in the third sector in Darlington for just under fifteen years.
Nic first worked within services supporting individuals who were homeless or at risk of homelessness, and then moved to work for Darlington Mind, supporting individuals with mental ill health and wellbeing. Nic then moved into the arena of social prescribing, working for a third sector organisation based in South Tyneside, supporting the delivery of social prescribing and behaviour change services across South Tyneside, North Tyneside and Newcastle. In 2022, Nic moved to a commissioning role with the NHS where they continued their career journey in social prescribing, albeit from a new perspective.
Nic is also a union rep and LGBT+ and Equalities Officer, as well as being a governor for a local primary school.
