Funding to Support Training in Ecclesiastical Heritage Skills Across UK and Ireland

The Benefact Trust is offering grants to registered Christian charities across the United Kingdom and Ireland to support the preservation of key heritage skills essential to the conservation of historic Christian buildings.

Through the Heritage Skills for Christian Buildings Grants Programme, groups can train individuals with apprenticeships, scholarships, and training courses in skills that are relevant to the maintenance and preservation of Christian buildings, including:

  • Stonemasonry.
  • Carpentry/joinery.
  • Heritage plumbing.
  • Heritage electricians.
  • Heritage bricklaying.
  • Lime plastering.
  • Thatching.
  • Lead work and glazing.

Grants can be used to support individuals for the duration of their training up to a maximum period of three years. All individuals supported through this programme should receive an accredited qualification at the end of their training that is recognised within the Heritage sector.

Groups should contact the Benefact Trust to apply.

Applications can be submitted at any time.
